RESIDENT’S ACTION TO IMPROVE AREA...

The Residents of the Bourne (Rossmore) Estate, as the Bourne Valley Action Group, are working to improve their area. One of the first projects was the re-planting of the traffic calming planters on Melbury Avenue. Poole Borough Council’s Leisure Services provided the plants and local residents did the rest. Ward Councillor Tony Trent joined them for most of the task. There have been some thefts of plants since they were put in last November, but the improvement to the appearance of the road is well appreciated by all but the anti-social minority in the area.

Pictured left, a group of residents and Cllr. Trent celebrating the completion of the last planter. Other residents involved were preparing refreshments. Below, one of the smaller planters. The raised ones were planted with heathers.

The group are supported by Poole Housing Partnership, Borough of Poole Housing and Community Services, Alderney and Rossmore Safer Neighbourhood Team, and Neighbourhood Manager Sylvia Webster – appointed for 5 years through a Government grant and The Poole Partnership.
