Along with a large part of this site, this page is currently being
re-constructed. Audio files have been removed for the time being. Much of the
original site was lost when changing the host for this site, but is being
sought out from my various files. There is no active Poole Music Festival or
ongoing gigs. If there are they will be promoted via the opening page. If you
wish to send any new links to publish on the site please E-mail
me. Inclusion cannot be guaranteed, but
it is hoped that this site can serve as a secondary portal. It is a voluntary
non-profit making undertaking run by a clapped out amateur – so be gentle with
me!

MEANWHILE
HERE IS A GALLERY OF OLDER STUFF…

Circa in 2000 (left to right…
Alistair Barker, Greg Moxham, Chandra Nair & partially obscured
James Somerville)
Circa were formed after the
1997 festival, though they played as “Flashboy” during the daytime part of the
first event. They were top support band in 1998 (the headliners were New
Zealand’s Mutton Birds), and featured regularly at subsequent festivals, as
well as being heavily involved in fundraising events. In fact at one of their
early PMF fundraising gigs (around late 97/early 98) they were supported by The
Art Goblins – who were performing their first ever gig. The Art Goblins were
fronted by Kevin Macklin, better known as Eddie Argos, morphed into Art Brut.
The rest is well documented on other pages on this site.
On the radio…

In the run up to the 1999 Poole
Music Festival we had a one hour sponsored radio show (part of The Album Zone on Merlin Network
One) transmitted throughout the World on short wave and on satellite. It
featured demos from key local bands plus tracks from artists playing over the
week of the festival – which was organised with the help of local DJ and
promoter Conrad Barr. It was from this point onwards that Poole Arts Centre (where
the main event had been held since the beginning) became very supportive of
the event.
